Bob, the Boys and their Grandfather went to a Round Round Express baseball game on Sunday. The Express played the Corpus Christie Hooks in an exhibition game.

The weather was perfect, the sky was high and blue, it was windy and cool. We had very good seats behind the visitor's dugout in the 4th row.

Bobby and Ivan were both very attentive and enjpoyed the game and the fun stuff that happens throughout the game. Bobby talked a lot to his grandfather about the plays and the players and Ivan sang and clapped and danced along with the music.

There were several great fielding plays like a player thrown out at home from the outfield and a bunt and bad throw to third and a run scored on a wild pitch. Several balls were hit near us. Some promotional sponge balls were thrown out and Bobby caught one on the deflection. Ivan mostly ate snacks the entire time but he paid attention and cheered and yelled "Go Round Rock!" the entire time. He and Bobby led several chants that made the people around us smile and laugh.

The game went by fast and we all had a great time. Bobby said that it didn't matter which team won, it was just awesome to go to watch a good game with the family men.

Congratulations Bobby!

We are very proud of Bobby, he won second place in his science fair for all of the 2nd grade class!

Bobby put a lot of thought, effort, and creativity into his project and he did a great job!

He and his classmates had a great time launching the rocket. It shot off sideways and then blew up on the pad, but then they got it to shoot 20 feet in the air!

Congratulations Bobby!

Snowy Evening

Tonight around 8:00 pm we had a surprise snowstorm! First we had thunder that no one was expecting and then I heard a weather report that there were snow flurries in Lago Vista (out at the lake). The kids and I went to bed and I heard sleet.

Christie was out shopping and came out to bushels of snow falling. She said that everyone in the parking lot was standing around gawking at the sky. She rushed in the door and woke us up but we weren't to enthusiastic at first. Bobby took one look at iot and went back to bed. But I got up again and it really started coming down,

Christie and I went out and frolicked in the night!

Science Project

This week Bobby has a science project so we decided to build a soda bottlerocket. We built the rocket using a quart soda bottle, cardboard, foil, tape, and a special kit that Christie got. All the kids gathered around the table and were fascinated to watch the cutting and taping and look at the picture on the box and ask questions about how it was going to work.

Thursday night we will perform a test launch!

Thanksgiving Weekend

We had a great thanksgiving holiday! Mimaw and Pipaw (Raymond and Delores) joined us for a day of food, fun, and football!

This was Sophia's first Thanksgiving and her eyes were as big as silver dollars when she saw the feast.

Bobby ate an entire turkey leg by himself and Eva and Christie loved the pecans and sweet potatoes. Ivan had his own special dishes and Bob had a reasonable portion (gorged ;) ) of everything.

Bob read a lengthy grace and during a pause, Ivan interjected "okay, amen, let's eat!".

Uncle David joined us during the afternoon and he and Mimaw played with the kids in the back yard for hours.

We were thankful this year for many things again but mainly for the love of our family.

Spring Baseball '08

Bobby Jr. is playing baseball in the pinto league (coach pitch) this spring his team is the Astros.

We switched leagues this year from Oak Hill Optimist to Manchaca Optimist. The reason we moved is so that Bobby could be in a league where the boys from his school play at. The Oak Hill league is probably the best in the Austin area and we hated to leave but we thought it was a better idea to play in and support the league that is in our community. Christie, Bobby and I like the league so far and enjoy being part of something that is just getting going.

Friday, March 7th we played a scrimmage against the Cardinals. Bobby almost caught a pop fly to right field, he missed a grounder at third, he made fielded two outs at third and he hit the ball every time at bat. He has a lot of room for improvement but I was proud of how he played.

First Night Austin

Christie, Bobby, and niece Amanda went to the First Night Austin event for New Years Eve. They saw a giant bicycle snake, fire dancers, bicycle animals and break dancers.

Everyone had a great time even thought it was very cold. The moon was full and there were 2 fireworks displays that lit the skyline and boomed off downtown.

The highlight of the night was when Bobby joined the Break Dancers and made the news report.
